For 150 years, England’s North American colonies lived in harmony with their mother country. There were tensions, but no serious thoughts of independence. However, English attitudes and policies changed after 1760 and the expats on this continent gradually came to believe that only independence would serve their needs and protect their interests. The American Revolution came.
