Robert E. Sullivan, Jr., Local Historian
This lecture will present the story of immigration in Metro Detroit, starting with the indigenous population that greeted the early French settlers, followed by the English and other European groups once Michigan became a US territory. We will cover the impact of the Erie Canal, Ford's $5-a-day announcement and World Wars I and II. We will then discuss Middle Eastern, Asian, Mexican and more recent immigration trends, as well as Metro Detroit's current ethnic enclaves. Generously sponsored by The Avalon of Bloomfield Township.
