Streaming at Next!

Next meeting: Tuesday, September 8, 2026 | 10:30am-12:00pm

We are changing the streaming format at Next! Once a month, there will be a short streaming documentary followed by a moderated discussion that addresses the topic presented in the film. The discussion leader will present some relevant information and ideas to discuss based on the film and will host an open discussion. Please join us for this fun and interactive new format! The other streaming session each month will be a traditional format with no discussion following.

Grant: Unlikely Hero (Episode 1) Tuesday, September 8 at 10:30 am 

Dramatic reenactments, expert commentary and more tell the story of Ulysses S. Grant, who overcame incredible obstacles to lead the Union to victory. This first episode of a 3-part series focuses on Grant’s role as a commander in the American Civil War. This event is a traditional streaming with no discussion following. Length 1 hour 20 minutes.

Quilters – Short Documentary and Discussion Tuesday, September 22 at 10:30 am

This award-winning short documentary takes viewers inside a Missouri maximum-security prison where incarcerated men design and sew beautiful, personalized quilts for foster children. Following the film there will be a moderated discussion. Length of film: 33 minutes plus discussion.

Going Varsity in Mariachi Tuesday, October 6 at 10:30 am

This feel-good documentary follows a Texas high-school mariachi band and their dedicated coach as they aim for a state championship amid fierce competition. This film is a timely choice for the authentic Mariachi Band Concert Performance coming to Next on October 27! This event is a traditional streaming with no discussion following. Length 1 hour, 44 minutes.

Lead Me Home – Short Documentary and Discussion Tuesday, October 20 at 10:30 am 

This documentary offers a brief but poignant insight into the struggles behind the homelessness crisis on the West Coast of the United States. As homelessness continues to plague these communities, the humanitarian impact of individual stories shines through. Following the film there will be a moderated discussion. Length of film: 40 minutes plus discussion.
