Keeping Abundance from Becoming Waste

Next meeting: Thursday, November 19, 2026 | 6:00pm-7:30pm
Stephanie Osborn, Program Director of Make Food Not Waste In this season of harvest and abundance, how can we be conscious of enjoying celebrations without wasting? When we throw something away, that item that’s thrown in the trash starts a journey to one of our many Michigan landfills, where it either sits for centuries, or decomposes. When it happens to be food items that are thrown away, not only do they not find their way to hungry Michigan residents, they decompose and release methane gas, contributing to climate change. Come and learn how we can consciously choose to solve two problems at the same time. This program is generously sponsored by Jewish Senior Life.
