Former U.S. Army Captain and Vietnam Veteran, Jim Suhay, will present a history of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial from its controversial beginnings in 1979 to its present status as one of the most visited and beloved memorials in Washington, DC. His visual presentation will include a look at how veterans were treated poorly after returning from the war, the passionate Vietnam veterans who wanted to honor their brothers and build the Wall, the disagreement over the Wall’s design, and the visitors to the Wall — the mementos they leave and what the Wall means to them.
