THE CARS OF CUBA: A Car Guy’s View of Cuban Culture Havana's cobblestone streets are lined with everything from pristine Buick convertibles to rickety, smoke-belching Studebakers. After the Cuban Revolution ended in 1959, it became impossible for Cubans to purchase new cars or parts from America. In an effort to keep their relics from the 50’s running, Cubans learned to improvise with hand-built parts and mismatched innards. This past October, The Antique Auto Club of America Museum sponsored a trip to Cuba, for a first hand-look at the country and its classic cars. Next Board Member Mr. Gordon Rinschler was a part of this group and will share his experience via an intriguing photo presentation.Part car show, part a study of Cuban culture.
