Thursday, March 9, 2017 | 6:00pm - 8:00pm

Dr. Dale Partin, Ph.D. discusses the vulnerability of the North American electrical grid. “The Grid” is the system that delivers electricity to the entire country, parts of Canada & Mexico. It consists of a complex interconnected network of power plants, transformers and 450,000 miles of high-voltage transmission lines. So, is “The Grid” safe? According to our speaker,it is not! Dr. Partin will discuss the current threats to the U.S. electric power grid, including the greatest, yet least considered threat: Coronal Mass Ejection (CME) from the Sun. Dr. Dale Partin has a Master of Science degree in Physics, a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and is a fellow of the American Physical Society.
