Robert A Sedler is a Distinguished Professor of Law at Wayne State University and played a major role in LGBT equality in the United States. This June, the Supreme Court held that the Constitution requires the state to issue license marriage for same-sex couples and to recognize marriages between same-sex couples that took place in another state. Professor Sedler, who was one of the lawyers for the plaintiffs in the state of Michigan case, DeBoer v Snyder, will discuss that case and the envelopment of the constitutional arguments in favor of marriage equality. He will then discuss the broader movement for LGBT.
